A few months ago, the internet world was introduced to loving siblings Chris and Katie. Apparently, they had not been getting along so well after Katie told on Chris, so he decided to go through his sister’s stuff, only to find a “hook up list” detailing all the guys from school she wanted to get with or had already gotten with. He wasted no time in posting it to Facebook.

The list itself was quite amusing, and surprisingly well organized. It listed exactly what activities she wanted to do with each guy and the date she wanted it done by. Also, there were prerequisites for some of the guys. For example, Brian would be given a BJ if he cut his hair first. Funny stuff. It got even better in the comments, where Chris and Katie had a hilarious back and forth about the breach of privacy.

Well, this story is due for a “where are they now?” because one of the details included on the list was a deadline by which she wanted to complete the “action items” by. The date was April 2010. Did Katie accomplish her goals, or was she grounded? Did Chris get in more trouble? So many amusing questions remain unanswered. I wouldn’t honestly expect the story to resurface, but if it did it would be one of the greatest moments in the history of the internet. The obvious lesson is do not make a hook up list when you are in a fight with your brother, especially if he has Facebook!

The home page is quite simple but there are several particularly good features. Checking who is online is a very important feature because you are able to see those members whom you can chat with. One niggle I have with the site, though, is that I specifically indicated in my profile that I am looking for sugar babes–why then does it show me pictures of men in my search results when I have made it clear that I am looking for women? The site does explain that the first list is not filtered; I just don’t think this is a sensible default.

In the Quick Search feature, I can specify more details regarding the person whom I am looking for by indicating whether she is a sugar babe or a sugar mommy, an age range, and a location. I can also specify that the site will only show those members who have uploaded their photographs. In the Advanced Search feature, I can be more detailed in specifying other features, such as body type, marital status, and race. I agree that this functionality could be helpful but there are plenty of other features that could be added to permit me to further refine the search.

Another way to look for possible dates is through the Browse category in the menu bar on the top of the page. This category is divided into New Members, Most Viewed, In Your Area, and New Photos. If I want to search only among the newbies, I can click on New Members. (This time, it appeared that filtering has been conducted based on my preferences. Only sugar babes were shown.) The regretful aspect of the site I quickly realized by searching is that many of the new members do not have profile pictures. Possibly this is understandable–they are new to the site, but I do not believe that it would take a long time to get a digital photo and upload it to the Internet.

Another problem that I have with the Browse category is that there is no provision for instant messaging here even for those who are online. I have to click on the Online Now link on the upper right corner and then find the specific person again. This is very inconvenient. To add insult to injury, this particular tool shows all of those who are online and does not filter out members that should not be there (such as men) because I am looking for young sugar babes.

Anyway, you may also look for your date among the most popular members in the Most Viewed subsection of the Browse category. They are subdivided based on four age ranges. In the New Photos subsection, you are able to see the pictures that have been recently uploaded. The In Your Area subsection is for searching the membership database for a particular age range, Zip code, and gender. A map is shown and the locations of these members are tagged on the map.

Meanwhile, email messaging is also a great tool to use in looking for possible dates. The advantage of email is that even if a member is not online, you can still send a message to her. However, a more helpful feature here could have been the inclusion of the photo of the email sender.

All in all though, this is a great site for sugar daddies meeting sugar babes and vice versa. If it sounds like you, check it out.

Shagpal.com is a dating site that needs improvements on several aspects. Grammatical errors and spelling issues should not be part of a professional dating site. I know that this is a dating site and not an entry to a literary contest but still, a lot of prospective clients are educated people so they would appreciate that the sites they patronize are free from these lapses in grammar and spelling.

However, the layout of Shagpal.com is adequate. There is nothing special to it and no dramatic and obvious faults either. Navigation links are found on the left side, instead of being placed above the page as seen in many sites. The speed in switching from one page to the next is fast. Loading time is short.

When I signed up for this site, I was required to give my full name and the standard data such as username, location, age, gender, preferences, and birthdate. The site asked me to signify the areas where I wanted to look for people. Well, many sites would simply assume that their members would be looking for other people who are in the same area as they are. A profile is not mandated by the site.

A user would be asked to agree that he or she has gone over the Terms of Service, but then, here is the shag, or rather, the snag. The closest thing you would find is a terms of use, but if you read it prior to the submission of the profile, you would lose all that you’ve done.

Here is another letdown the way I see it. It is mentioned in the site’s TOS that each profile and photo becomes the site’s copyright, which the site can use as it deems appropriate. Many dating sites simply shrug off this clause, or permit a user to decide if he or she wants his or her photos to be used in any marketing endeavor. If you go to the site, you would then see that, unlike many other dating websites, there are many profiles without pictures. Should we wonder why? I sure hope that this was intentional on the webmasters’ side and not an oversight. At least they could then justify it as a sort of a statement.

The site has its standard offerings. It has search possibilities, forums, chatting, instant messaging, friend list, winks, galleries, and the ability to block users from sending you messages. Special features are present such as event calendars, restore/backup functions, and even Google maps.

Shagpal.com also has an Adult Questionnaire for the members. Covered by this section are Sexual Activities, Fantasies, Sexual Accessories (the kind of sex toys you love, for example), Physical Stuff (for example, your favorite attire in the evening). At the very least, this is something I do not see in all adult dating sites.

If you are fond of reading, then you would be at least glad to know that this site has a section devoted to articles. As of the last time I checked it out, here are two of the titles: “Anal Sex: how to give women incredible orgasms” and “Make Her Horny” (10 easy tricks), which are very interesting topics. If the managers of the site would put pictures along with the articles, it would add sophistication to the pages, not to mention that it would be more fun to go through.

Before you take out your money to join the site, read the site’s FAQ page first. It should give you crucial bits of knowledge that would be useful in terms of navigation and functions.

Does one have to be a member to stay in the site? Non-paying members would be able to search for members, upload just one photo, and search results. Those who have Silver membership would be able to upload 5 pictures, email other members, view others’ pictures, get event management privileges, and “wink” at other members, just to name a few. What then is the bottom line that I’m gonna give? Warts and all, I still say that going to the site is not bad. After all, the site is technically a free dating place, although members do get a lot of privileges. Let us just pray that the shortcomings mentioned are soon.

The first notable addition was the inclusion of voice ads in the profiles. Another significant feature is that some limits have been imposed on the site’s free members in terms of their ability to access profiles of the site’s members. It has always been my opinion that for a dating site to succeed its contact options have to be direct and fast. This site has internal private mail, and a feature called “send someone a tickle” which I think is their online equivalent of flirting. While I personally do not find this feature cute, I am sure that many others would.

Besides the usual chat rooms, the site also offers voice-chat and the ability to “private call.” The voice-chat is integrated with their IM interface, and is really easy to use.

First of all on the index page you find links to the features that are believed to be of primary interest to members. As for the search system, it is also very impressive. A notable feature is the ability to look for members who are geographically near to you. Get It On is Adult Friend Finder’s foray into “scientific” adult dating. It is also a response to criticism of their flagship “Adult Friend Finder” site as being cluttered, gaudy, ugly, suffering from featuritis, et cetera (criticisms I discussed in my earlier review of it, here.) It is my opinion that Get It On has largely succeeded in what it set out to accomplish.

To sign up to the site (free!), you have to fill in a reasonably long questionnaire. The idea here is to give the site’s software a good idea of what your sexual preferences are and what sort of sexual experience outcome you’re trying to achieve. This information is then used to build your profile and sort through available people in your area; the site will present matching profiles to you when you log in, with a “percentage sexual compatibility” rating next to them.

Once you’ve got your list of prospective compatibles, you can simply click through to any one of the profiles and start communicating with the person using the site’s tools; email her, flirt with her, hotlist her, whatever. The layout and design also really deserves a mention. Visually, the site is the acme of minimalist/Zen beauty. Clean, clear, no fuss, no mess, and best of all everything just works. Entirely gone is the “Christmas tree” design of yore, replaced by a delightful and contemporary Web 2.0 composition. One thing that particularly struck me was the complete absence of upsell advertising—the site doesn’t seem to be trying to sell anything except for memberships to itself! This may be because the site is relatively new and AFF don’t want to frighten away new members, but I hope it’s more of a long-term strategic decision than that.

I should also point out some possibly-negative features. One is that because the site is fairly new, the size of the membership database can’t compete with those of AFF’s older, established sites. This doesn’t seem to meaningfully affect the search results or matches, but definitely has an impact on things like the number of member videos broadcasting at any one time. I guess there might be something to be said for joining early and scooping up all the hotties, though, hah.

There’s also an obvious lack of a member’s forum, real-time chat, and cam-to-cam functionality. While this might turn some people off, I don’t think it should. Get It On is quite deliberately “stripped down”, with the idea of turning it into a lean, mean, hookup-finding machine. It’s not about sitting around and e-socializing all day with probably-distant Internet strangers (there’s a million other sites you can do that on, and most of them are free), it’s about finding someone with compatible perversions sexual preferences who lives within an hour or two’s drive of you and then hooking up with them to make the beast with two backs.

If that sounds like what you’re after, I’d definitely recommend giving Get It On a shot. Given the marketing muscle that AFF have, the site’s only going to become more popular, and quickly.

One of the first things that I try to assess when I’m reviewing an adult dating website is how “authentic” the site’s membership base is. Sure, it’s fun to look at naked pictures of hot models, but you know most of those profiles are spam, shill accounts, or bots dressed up to artificially inflate the site’s social proof statistics. And looking at porn online is fine, but you’re there because you want to hook up, right?

Well, when it came time to review to Online Booty Call, I was pleasantly surprised. The member’s homepage gets right to the point of the site – finding booty calls. Everything’s laid out clearly for you when you log in: booty requests, messaging system, online booty calls, and, of course, the pièce de résistance – random booty. There’s also a search option to the right, which lets you determine a prospective booty call’s proximity to you.

One thing I noticed immediately was that the random booty calls are not so random. Results are always confined to within your stated area. A small thing, but I appreciated it. I mean, imagine seeing an oh-so-hot random booty, only to find out that she’s in the opposite coast. That would suck, right?

One thing I didn’t like, though, were the sparse profile pages. Sure, there are a couple of photos, and maybe an uploaded music clip. There’s basic info on height, weight, age, orientation, and the like, but the About Me is almost always empty. This is supposed to be the profile’s “calling card,” no? And a way for members to filter according to their preferences; but when you look at a lot of them, they’re empty. I won’t put all the blame on the members. I mean there’s here’s hardly anything in my profile, either–I signed up for an account, and when it didn’t FORCE me to fill anything in, I didn’t.

I think it probably relates to the site being relatively new, so they’re trying to lower the barrier for entry to new members. I disagree with the policy in terms of the effect on the user experience, though–there should be more required questions or fields, such as about what a person likes or dislikes, what’s he or she is looking for, etc. This way, when I browse through my booty call prospects, I can filter them based on more information, instead of just deciding on one’s booty worthiness via a (let’s-face-it-usually-deceptive) photo or two. Why waste time on someone you can’t even get any mileage out of, right?

The Rate Booty section is something that really amused me. Sometimes, I’d log in not even looking for a hot date. I just want to rate people.

The design and layout of Online Booty Call is really pleasing to the eyes. I like that it’s clean. No gaudy banners, no awful animation. Navigation is easy and everything’s organized neatly. It is hard to get lost here. There was one thing I found counter intuitive, though: my booty invites. I sent a couple of booty invites to people I found in my searches. And for the life of me I can’t seem to find those invites anywhere. They’re not in the Booty Requests page under “Sent”. They are nowhere to be found. Now, I suppose that I’d have to wait till they accept my booty invite before I see them in my Booty Call page. But I think there should be a way to “follow up” or something. Plus, what if I want to see whom I’ve sent invites to so I won’t accidentally do it again?

Overall however, I liked Online Booty Call. It’s user friendly, genuine, and I think I’ll be able to find a decent playdate or two in there. Profile content may be lacking for now, but perhaps once the membership is large enough there’ll be more; especially if the service really takes off. For now, it is obvious that the site owners are keen on just populating their member database. (There’s even a sweepstakes going on right now–the number one member referrer wins!)

This is a nice, easy website for people looking to hook up locally, particularly if it’s for an extra-marital tryst. Ashley Madison’s concept is “a dating agency online”. After logging in, the main options presented are to: open your mail, update your profile, or search for profiles. There are no bothersome ads, no link to this and that. There isn’t even any of the harping cams and videos upsell advertising that many adult dating websites have.

What you see is what you get. Take the search for example. You can do a simple or advanced search. With advanced search, you can filter for fields. You can remove the “attached” people from your results page, if you are only looking for singles, or you can search for them exclusively, if you’re after the thrill of a fling.

Your search results in a list of profiles. You will see the basics elements of the profiles there, such as picture, location, age, what they’re looking for, and their current relationship status. For each result, you’ll see if the person’s online or not. You have an option to immediately chat with those online, if the person isn’t online you can message her or send her an online gift using credit points, which you purchase—a slightly different model than the subscription one used by most site. (A good model, we think—you only pay for what you use.) Profiles also have a private “showcase” link; you will only see the photos in here if you have permission from the showcase owner.

And that’s it. That’s basically the website.

Ashley Madison boasts a higher success rate in terms of hookups and affairs instigated than most other sites; the lack of community chat, webcams, and porn may be the main reasons why. Contact here is one-on-one, focused, personal, and direct. People here know what they want and are determined to get it.

For example, when you send a gift, there’s a standard flirty note there, and a field where you can add your own message. You are discouraged from sending random gifts to random people, because every gift you send costs you credits. When you “wink” at someone, you need to let them know what your wink means. There’s practically no way to avoid getting straight to the point. When you find someone and contact them you’re almost forced to let them know right away what you’re after. To me, that’s how an adult dating site should work. No games.

As for the design, the website is easy to navigate. Your standard links are those to your email, the profile search, and the links to update your profile or account. There’s no confusion as to where you’d need to go.

When you need to contact someone on your search results, you just go into their profiles, and chat, message, or give a gift. These are the only interaction allowed within this dating service, and it’s enough.

Like the site itself, the design is functional, straightforward, and clean – the only thing that bugged me visually was the “100% Affair Guaranteed” banner.

This banner promotes a paid service of the site (it’s an upsell). For almost $300, Ashley Madison Agency guarantees that you’ll hook up with someone when you use their website – so long as you undertake to chat with someone, message someone, and give gifts to someone a certain number of times per month for three months. Failure to do so voids the guarantee. You don’t get anything extra with this – it’s just a guarantee. Unless you’re a real troglodyte I’m pretty sure you’d be able to achieve the same result without the guarantee.

The thing is the banner is shoved in your face every time you load a page. Literally, they show the banner every time they get a chance. And it’s not like you can just click on the banner to close it, or choose to hide it. It stays there until you move to another page. It starts to feel irritating and intrusive.

I guess nothing’s perfect. Overall however, the Ashley Madison Agency seems on to a winner, though, and represents real innovation in the space. You might not be able to do better for your buck.
