Chop House, Transit & Trois – Part 1

Well, my first night in Chicago was so amazing it deserves three posts. This first post shall deal exclusively with the first part of the evening — dinner at the legendary Chop House. Yeah, I know this isn’t a foodie blog and the majority of content on CasualEncounters is about eating pussy as opposed to delicacies — but some meals are just so good they almost rank up there with sex. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, the Chop House is one of the best — if not the best — steakhouses in the world. I went with Steve, an old college buddy of mine who now is a trader at the Chicago Merc and two of his buddies from the Exchange. I thought I was an egotistical bastard — but suffice to say there is a special level of bravado only attained upon becoming a trader on the commodities exchange. Despite their brashness, they definitely seemed like ideal guides to the area’s best pussy chasing arenas.

So the meal started off with an amazing seafood platter appetizer for the table including lobster tails, shrimp, crabcakes and some of the best crab legs I’ve ever eaten. This was just a prelude to the 48 oz. (I was tempted to go for the 64 oz. but that was just too much) Porterhouse steak — which words alone can not describe. The truffle mac ‘n cheese and sauteed mushrooms rounded out what might qualify as one of the best meals of my life. For those of you who have occasion to visit Chicago (and don’t mind dropping a few hundred on dinner) — I most definitely recommend a splurge at the Chop House. From Chop House we headed out to engage in my main hobby — and suffice to say the Windy City did not disappoint. Further details coming soon….
